Statistics on household consumer expenditures

01.11.2008

The main goal of the statistics on household consumer expenditures is to produce statistical information on the magnitude, structure and distribution of this spending. For this reason, data from the Continuous Family Budget Survey, Base 1997 was used, which expands on the results published until now for Catalonia.

Household consumer expenditures represents the main economic activity of the population, in addition to being a significant indicator of their quality of life. By purchasing goods and services, households are given a certain standard of living in line with their priorities and economic possibilities. Household consumer expenditures is an approach to the concept of private consumption as the most important component of a country's aggregate demand.
