Industrial Price Index. 03/2024

The industrial products price index (base 2021=100), which does not include energy, decreased by 1.0% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in March 2024.

During the same period the industrial price index (which includes energy) dropped by 4.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. By large industrial sectors, energy prices decreased by 18.5% and those of intermediate goods by 5.5%, while prices of capital goods increased by 2.9% and those consumer goods by 1.5%.

Moreover, by industrial divisions, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in Industries of paper products (−7.8%) and in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−7.1%). By contrast, prices increased in manufacture of beverages (4.1%), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (3.3%) and in manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (3.0%).
